Square Lotion Bar & Pink Container ^
The “100% Hand Made” mold makes about six bars using the recipe in this book. Here’s what you’ll need:
- “100% Hand Made” lotion bar/soap mold (pack or 6)
- Square soap/lotion bar container (2 per pack)
- 1 inch x 2 5/8 inch sticky labels
Here’s an alternative lotion bar mold that I also love. It’s roughly the same size as the 100% Hand Made soap mold, so you should get the same number of bars per batch.
Label Templates
Because of the style of the lotion bar container I used for the “100% Handmade” lotion bars I don’t add a decorative label to the top. However, I add a combination product name/ingredient label to the bottom. Because none of the information needs to be edited, each label slot has been pre-filled for your convenience.

Classic Rectangle ^
Finding a soap mold for these tins is a bit like spending a day with Goldilocks at the Three Bears house – most are too large, and some are teeny tiny. Though the mold below doesn’t quite fill the tin, it does create a bar that fits well into the palm of your hand, thus making application super easy. The mold below will make about three bars using the recipe from the book.

Push Up Containers ^
The basic recipe in this book makes twelve push-up containers. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Clear push-up tubes (pack of 15) – These can also be used to make solid perfume and deodorant.
- 1.5 inch brown kraft sticky labels

- Creamsicle Lotion Bar 1.5 Inch Square Label
- Lavender Lotion Bar 1.5 Inch Square Label
Dragonfly & Flower Molds ^
The recipe from DIY Gifts Made Simple makes about twelve fluid ounces. Using these silicone molds, that would be eight butterfly/dragonfly/ladybug lotion bars (1.5 ounces each), four large flower lotion bars (3 ounces each) or sixteen small flower lotion bars (.75 ounces each)
Here’s what you’ll need:

Bath Salt & Body Scrub Packaging Ideas ^
Many of the containers that work well with body scrubs are also ideal for bath salts, so they’re covered together later in this section.
The wide mouth mason jar (left in the above photo) holds 12 ounces. My body scrubs are about 8 ounces, so I typically double the batch and keep the leftovers for myself, or triple the batch and fill two jars. My basic bath salts are 16 ounces, so one batch will fill one jar with 4 ounces left over.
The cork jar (right in the above photo) will hold 8 ounces. That’s one batch of body scrub from the book. If you use the cork jar to package the bath salts from the book, you’ll need two jars (8 ounces each) to hold one batch (16 ounces) of bath salts.

Manila shipping tag – I used a set that I bought at Hobby Lobby, but there are similar tags available on Amazon. If desired, you may want to trim the tags a bit so that they are not as long as the bag. That’s what I did. 🙂

Fluted Cork-Top Bottles
The recipe from this book will make two bottles of vanilla extract using these bottles. If your vanilla beans are not completely under the rum, vodka, etc. after you place everything in the bottle, add enough additional liquid to cover them.
For this project, I used:
- Bormioli Rocco Country Home Gotica 8 1/2 Ounce Bottles. You can buy them in sets of 12 on Amazon for a good price and free shipping if you have Amazon Prime, or buy them as singles here and pay a little more for shipping.
- For the tags, I actually hand-cut them out of thick brown kraft paper based on the shape of these tags, but you can find similar pre-made ones on Amazon. Here’s one option, and here’s another one. I usually trim a little of the length off because I prefer them a bit shorter.
- For the string, I used red and white butchers twine
- Labels used – 2 inch round kraft labels – 6 sheets (120 total) or 12 sheets (240 total)

Diffuser Necklace Packaging Ideas ^
I like to gift these necklaces in a kraft brown jewelry box with red and white bakers twine tied around it.
Supplies:
- Air dry clay in the color of your choice – Find terra cotta here and white clay here
- Lid, cap or cookie cutter in the size and shape you want your pendant to be (I used a vodka bottle cap that I’d purchased to make homemade vanilla extract)
- Straw or pen cap
- Cording (I used 10 lb cording for the necklaces with decorative beads, and thicker 48 lb cording for those without. You can find 10 lb here, or you can buy them as a set with a few other types here)
- Wax paper
- Decorative beads (Optional – I used these Amazonite stone beads in the 14mm size. They come in 15 inch strands, so I used the leftovers to make a few aromatherapy bracelets)
- Stamp (Optional, adds a bit of design. I used this stamp of old French writing to create mine.)
- Toothpicks or skewers (Optional, only needed if you are making beads)
- Fine grit sandpaper (Optional – Finished pieces have smoother edges with light sanding)
- Superglue (Optional)

Beeswax Candles ^
The recipe from this book will make three 8 ounce candles or six 4 ounce candles.
- 1 pound beeswax (This store used to offer five pound bags of organic beeswax pearls, but now they only offer 8 ounce bags so you’d have to buy two. This is another option.)
- 1/2 cup coconut oil, melted
- Medium cotton wicks with wick tabs attached, like these*
- Wick stickers
- Jars – This recipe will make three of these 8 ounce jelly jars or these square mason jars, which are identical to the ones in the photos except they have no writing on them. Another option is to use these 4 ounce jelly jars, which will yield six candles with this recipe.
- 2 inch square kraft labels

Homemade Laundry Detergent ^
What you’ll need:
- 6 cups washing soda
- 3 bars of 4.5-5 ounce soap – I usually use my homemade coconut oil soap, but I’ve also tried Kirk’s Castile and Dr. Bronner’s Unscented Castile and both worked well
- 20-40 drops lemon essential oil (optional)
- Food processor (optional)
- Downy ball automatic dispenser for homemade fabric softener (optional)
- Vinegar (optional)
Soft Scrub ^
- 2 tablespoons castile soap
- 3⁄4 cup baking soda
- Just enough water to make a smooth, liquid paste (about 2-3 tablespoons)
- 10 drops grapefruit essential oil (or oil of choice)
- Squeeze bottle – Empty dish soap, ketchup or shampoo bottles make a great “squirt top” container for this scrub, but you can also find them here.
-
Glass Cleaner ^
- 1⁄2 cup white vinegar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch or arrowroot powder
- 1 3⁄4 cup water
- One 16 oz. glass spray bottle
Lemon & Lavender All-Purpose Cleaner ^
- 1 cup vinegar
- 1 cup distilled water
- 30 drops lemon essential oil
- 10 drops lavender essential oil
- One 16 oz. glass spray bottle – Dark amber or cobalt blue glass spray bottles are ideal because they filter out UV light, which can damage essential oils.
This all-purpose cleaner makes a great housewarming gift, especially when paired with wool dryer balls, homemade beeswax candles, and/or cotton cloths for cleaning.
Click here for a free label template that works perfectly with these labels and this 8 ounce spray bottle or this 16 ounce spray bottle.
Dishwasher Detergent Recipe ^
- 4 cups washing soda
- 15-30 drops grapefruit essential oil (optional)
- 5-10 drops lemon essential oil (optional)
- Sodium percarbonate (optional) – I buy this brand on Amazon. It says it’s 99% pure oxygen bleach (Sodium Percarbonate), but it’s totally pure, non-toxic sodium percarbonate with nothing added. The other 1% is moisture.
Citrus Shine Rinse Aid ^
- 2 cups citric acid
- 15-20 drops citrus essential oil (optional)
- If clumping is an issue – although it very rarely is if stored in a sealed container – 2 tablespoons bentonite clay in a sock or pouch.
-
Liquid Rinse Aid ^
- Vinegar or this commercially available natural rinse aid if vinegar is not recommended by your manufacturer
